General questions about Meine-Medizindaten

Meine-Medizindaten is a web portal that allows medical specialists to give their patients protected access to medical data such as X-ray, CT or MRI images.

To access their personal medical image data, patients receive an individual link or QR code from the doctor's practice that generated the images. The images can then be viewed and downloaded via this link after entering an individual password.

An image exchange portal allows doctors to share medical images with their patients digitally, replacing patient CDs or DVDs, for example.

The Meine-Medizindaten portal is operated by the software company Telepaxx Medical Data. For over 25 years, the company has specialized in storing medical image data securely on behalf of hospitals and medical practices and making it available to patients.

Questions about accessing images and reports

You have two options for accessing your personal medical images:

  1. Via your personal access link:

You will receive a personal access link from the doctor's surgery that took your medical record. This can be sent to you by letter, e-mail or QR code from your doctor. If you click on this link or enter it manually in an Internet browser, a personalized Meine-Medizindaten website will be called up.

To view your images, you must enter your personal password in the input mask. You will also receive this from the doctor's surgery where your photo was taken.

  2. About the website www.mmd-portal.de

Alternatively, you can open the website www.mmd-portal.de in your Internet browser. You can enter your individual access code and password manually in the input window on the start page.

You will receive the access code and password from the doctor's practice that carried out the respective examination (e.g. X-ray, MRI, CT, mammography).

You will receive the access link or access code from the doctor's practice that carried out the respective examination (e.g. X-ray, MRI, CT, mammography).

As a rule, you will receive the access link or access code by e-mail or as a paper printout.

If you are unsure or can no longer find the access link or access code, please contact the image-producing medical practice and ask them to send it to you again.

Please note that in addition to the access link / access code, you also need an individual password to open the images. You will also receive this from your doctor's practice.

If you have forgotten the password or have not received it, please contact the doctor's practice that carried out the respective examination (e.g. X-ray, MRI, CT, mammography).

They can send you the password again if required.

This question can only be answered by the medical practice that carried out the examination (e.g. X-ray, MRI, CT, mammography).

In general, however, CDs are only partially secure storage media, as they can be lost, are sometimes technically unreadable and the data can usually be accessed without a second security factor such as a password.

No, registration is not required.

To view your images, you simply need to enter a password as a second factor after accessing your individual access link. This confirms that you have the necessary access rights to the image.

The doctor's practice in which the image was taken decides whether a report is also stored in Meine-Medizindaten in addition to the medical images.

Some doctors upload the reports as a PDF file directly or with a time delay (e.g. 24 hours after the examination), others only send the reports to the referring doctor's practice.

If you do not see any images or reports after entering the access code or via the access link and entering your password, please contact the doctor's practice where you had the examination.

Questions about data protection

Yes, your data is protected and stored in encrypted form in the online storage of Meine-Medizindaten. Only you and the referring doctor have access after entering the individual access code and password.

The Meine-Medizindaten portal also meets the security standards of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) with the so-called C5 certificate. As part of this certification, it was checked, for example, whether the portal takes certain security measures to protect patient data in the best possible way.

The Meine-Medizindaten portal and the operator of the portal (Telepaxx Medical Data) process the data stored there on behalf of medical practices and hospitals. If you do not want the medical practice or hospital to provide you with the images of your medical examination via the Meine-Medizindaten portal, you must object to the processing at the image-producing institution.

To ensure that data is processed in accordance with the law, patients receive an information sheet on data protection from the respective doctor's practice before the examination. You must read this and sign it - this is required by the General Data Protection Regulation, which the respective medical practice or hospital is responsible for complying with.

If you are unsure whether you have signed a corresponding consent form, or if you wish to withdraw your consent, please contact the medical practice or hospital that generated the images. Only this institution can delete images from the web portal.

Only the medical practice or hospital that created the data, you, and the referring physician can access your data.

An encrypted storage of the image data ensures that no one can access your medical images without the individual access code and password. This makes this type of image transmission significantly more secure than, for example, patient CDs or DVDs.

As soon as you close the browser window in which your medical images are displayed, you will be automatically logged out.

If you want to view the images again, you will need to enter your personal access code and password again. This prevents unauthorized individuals from viewing your image data.

Questions about the technical requirements

To view your images via the My Medical Data portal, all you need is an internet-enabled device (computer, tablet, smartphone), a working internet connection and a browser (e.g. Chrome, Safari, Edge), which you can use to access the access link.

Accessing images via the My Medical Data web portal works with most common browsers in the latest versions - for example Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari or Microsoft Edge.

We recommend the use of the latest generation of Internet browsers.

If necessary, update your browser by checking for updates in the browser settings and carrying them out.

You can access your images either via a computer such as a laptop or via a mobile device such as a tablet or smartphone.

As the Meine-Medizindaten portal is based on the HTML5 programming language and runs directly in the Internet browser, the iOS (iPhone, iPad etc.) and Android (e.g. Samsung Galaxy) operating systems are supported for mobile devices.

All you need is an up-to-date Internet browser on your mobile device and a working Internet connection.
